Job Description:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Sorting mail and packages into sequence of delivery daily.
Approx 187 boxes on route.
Loading vehicle in sequence of delivery.
Delivering mail and packages along an established mail route in a timely manner.
Dismounting vehicle when required for package delivery, Express Mail, and other accountable mail items.
We deliver up to mile from mailbox.
If parcel doesn't fit, we deliver to door or other agreed upon location.
Collecting outgoing mail and packages daily.
Other administrative duties as required.
Safe driving practices during all times.
Qualifications Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions! Must be able to work 6 days.
Must pass a Postal Inspection background and driving license check.
No felonies, DUI's, ETC.
Must have a qualifying vehicle that meets the following postal regulations and driving requirements.
One (1) dependable vehicle providing 120 cubic ft of usable load space for mail and parcels.
Vehicle needs to be in good physical and mechanical condition.
All-wheel-drive or 4-wheel-drive is preferred.
$100,000/$500,000/$100,000 or $600,000 (CSL) of liability insurance for contract vehicle.
Most insurance companies don't offer these exact terms.
If that is the case, you can have greater amounts, just not lower.
Most insurance companies will offer 250k/500k/100k or something along those lines.
It will be your responsibility to have the appropriate insurance and provide documentation prior to start date.
The applicant is responsible for all the vehicle maintenance and insurance costs for their vehicle.
Must be able to handle physical load.
Lifting up to 70lbs.
Must be reliable and responsible.
You'll be on your own.
Schedule:
Monday- Sat.
6 days a week with Sundays and Government Holidays observed.
Daily hours will depend on mail volume and carrier efficiency.
Estimated start time is 10:
30 am.
Estimated completion time is 4:
30 pm.
-1099 independent contractor -You will be responsible for all vehicle maintenance, insurance cost's, & fuel.
Typical day You'll arrive to the Chelan Post Office before 10:
30 a.
m.
and you will sort letters, flats, packages, and anything else that needs to go out for delivery.
You have a designated area to sort everything in order of delivery.
(It'll take time some time to get efficient.
The faster you can sort, the faster you can start delivery) Once everything is sorted in order of the line of travel, you'll then load all items into your vehicle.
This is physical.
After your vehicle is loaded, you'll start delivery.
You'll follow the assigned line of travel delivering items along the way.
Every parcel you deliver will be scanned prior to delivery.
We deliver all parcels that don't fit into mailboxes up to 1/2 mile away from mailbox(1 mile round-trip).
We deliver certified letters that require us to get out of the vehicle and knock on door for signatures.
This route is approx 30 daily miles with 187 est boxes.
Once all supplies are put away, you're done for the day.
You will become more efficient with time.
